To prevent the initiation of tobacco use through

  • Teen advocacy groups

  • Increased school district participation

  • Coordination of peer education from high school students to middle and elementary school students

  • Increased college/university participation

  • Compliance checks on tobacco retail outlets

To promote quitting among adults and young people through

  • Smoking cessation programs

  • Access to multiple tobacco treatment modalities

  • Awareness efforts about pharmacotherapy and tobacco treatment coverage

  • Promotion of the DeterminedToQuit website and 1-800-QUIT-NOW

To eliminate nonsmokers’ exposure to second hand smoke pollution through

  • Enhance smoke-free work and public environments

  • Education on the benefits of clean indoor and outdoor air

  • Promotion of public policy on clean indoor and outdoor air
