Smoke-Free Celebrations to Recognize
Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air Law
Community invited to turn in
cigarettes and other smoking-related items
Allentown, PA (September 3, 2008)
— To recognize the passage of the Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air
Law, the Partnership for a Tobacco Free Northeast PA and
Northeast Regional Cancer Institute will be hosting a Smoke-Free
Celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at
Molly Brannigan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in Scranton. The
event is open to the public.
The celebration will feature a “Now’s The Time, Give Up Your
Smokes” drive, a campaign that encourages attendees (ages 18 and
up) to bring their cigarettes and cigars, and/or cigarette
company logo items (such as lighters and clothing) to the event
in exchange for a $5 food voucher to Molly Brannigans. The event
will also include a free limited lunch buffet, radio remote by
WBHT 97.1 FM, and giveaways.
Individuals who would like to quit smoking are encouraged to
check out the Partnership’s MakeItYourLast.com website, a
one-stop resource for people ready to make the commitment to a
smoke-free lifestyle. The Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air Law,
which goes into law September 11, prohibits smokers from
lighting up in various locations, including enclosed public
areas, restaurants, and workplaces.
