Northeast Regional Cancer Institute brings Tobacco Prevention
and Cessation Program to First Night Scranton
The Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Northeast Regional
Cancer Institute will be in downtown Scranton on New Year’s Eve
collecting signatures from those who are “determined to quit”
tobacco in 2008. This event is part of the Department’s ongoing
statewide tobacco cessation initiative.
The Tobacco Prevention and Cessation information will be on
display on the first floor in the Mall at Steamtown, in
Scranton, from 6:00pm to midnight on Monday, December 31st for
the First Night celebration. Information on quitting tobacco and
resources to help individuals quit will be available.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, in conjunction with The
Partnership for a Tobacco Free Northeast Pennsylvania, provides
tobacco prevention, cessation, compliance and outreach services
throughout Lackawanna County in partnership with local social
service and healthcare professionals, policymakers, school
districts, law enforcement professionals, businesses, and
residents.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a non-profit,
community-based agency working to ease the burden of cancer in
Northeastern Pennsylvania. Focusing on research, education &
survivorship the Cancer Institute invests all of its resources
in this region.
