Cancer Resources Guide
A online resource for newly diagnosed cancer patients, families and caregivers
containing listings and information on useful websites, treatment facilities,
support groups as well as real-life accounts from cancer survivors.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute (NRCI) is a local, non-profit
organization working to ease the burden of cancer in Northeastern
Pennsylvania. Focusing on research, education, patient services,
survivorship, and support for cancer related healthcare partners, the
Cancer Institute invests all of its resources in NEPA.
The primary service area for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute
includes the following Counties: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike,
Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming - with additional services in Carbon,
Lehigh and Northampton.
To accomplish our mission the Cancer Institute partners with member
hospitals: Community Medical Center Healthcare System in Scranton; Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Henry Cancer Center in
Wilkes-Barre; Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale; Mercy Health
Partners in Scranton & Nanticoke; Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton; Mid
Valley Hospital in Peckville; Wayne Memorial Health System in Honesdale;
and Wyoming Valley Health Care System in Wilkes-Barre; oncology related
and specialty practices; area businesses; public and private service
agencies; foundations; community leaders; and governmental entities at
all levels.
Some community programs that you might be familiar with include the
annual Cancer Survivors Celebration, C.A.S.U.A.L. Day, the Virtual Tile
Gallery, the Hereditary & Familial Cancer Program, and the Lackawanna
Tobacco Control Program. The Cancer Institute is your local resource for
cancer statistics and information on cancer in Northeastern
Pennsylvania.
