T
he Face of Cancer theme, which runs from
beginning to end in this publication, was
inspired by the Northeast Regional Cancer
Institute Face of Cancer Awareness Campaign. The
Face of Cancer Awareness Campaign reminds us
that cancer affects our family members, friends,
co-workers and neighbors. The survivors featured are
individuals alone, but represent the Face of Cancer in
Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a
non-profit organization developed to ease the
burden of cancer in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
To do this, the Cancer Institute works with numerous
organizations and individuals throughout our
community. In developing the 7th edition of the
Cancer Resources Guide we want to specifically
thank our partner hospitals and the community
agencies and organizations who shared their ideas,
suggestions, and editing skills for this publication. Also,
our extreme gratitude is extended to those members
of the Family of Survivors who shared words of inspira-
tion and wisdom throughout the pages of this guide.
